All You Ever Wanted to Know About Insurance

Dependent Coverage for Children Extended to Age 26

One of the new provisions in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act mandates that health plans make dependent coverage available for your children until their 26th birthday. The under 26 child does not have to be enrolled in college, or live with the parents or even be a dependent on your tax return.

This mandate is for plan years beginning after Sept 23, 2010 but many insurers like Regence BlueShield of Idaho and Blue Cross of Idaho have made this coverage change effective now.

American Insurance is your resource for medical insurance products and information. Our Benefits Department is here to help employers, individuals and retirees manage the cost and select the best insurance plans from among the many insurance companies we represent.

For more information, we invite you to call Tim Gleason, American Insurance Benefit Department Manager.
