Regence BlueShield of Idaho and St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston have not agreed to a new contact yet. Regence rejected proposed large rate increases for hospital services previously which led St. Joseph to sent letters indicating their intention to terminate the Regence current contract on January 15, 2020. This has creating deep concerns among Regence policyholders.
However, Regence has announced good news for MedAdvantage policyholders. Regence reassured their MedAdvantage policyholders on their public website with a news release on October 28th and revised on November 4th saying,
"Regence Medicare Advantage members who receive care from St. Joseph will receive in-network benefits through Dec. 31, 2020. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations ensure St. Joseph can bill Medicare members for only their applicable cost share for covered services and cannot bill beyond 100% of the federally allowed amount, which we’ll continue to cover."
Regence policyholders are encouraged to click and read the entire news release titled "Regence advocates for controlling member costs with St. Joseh Regional Medical Center".
